CPS Question????
CPS, Crank Posisition Sensor, Will the engine start if this is bad?? I have no tach, speed O, a/c, alt, trans stuck in drive. It will crank and run fine, but everything elsae seem to have gone to s*?!. Any help will help..thanks

That is the correct location for the cps. It sounds like you may have something else wrong too. Check your fuses and clean the batt cables and fuesable link wires. then check your power in the pdc on the fender. Check your cps for metal stuck to it canceling out the signal and I gap them to .010".
Trans stuck in drive? If shifter is in park, you have internal tranny problems, probably valve body stuck from dirt or varnish. Good luck

I don't think he truly means the trans won't physically shift out of drive. I'm going through the same CPS problems, and when the CPS is disconnected, or inop, when you put the trans in drive, it physically starts out in drive, instead of going from 1 to 2 to D to OD. In other words, you have to manually shift.
You gap to .010" instead of .050"?
For what it's worth, I've replaced my CPS and am still having problems. I went through jiggling all of the wire looms, while somebody watched the tach, trying to find a problem with wiring. I couldn't find a thing, so I'm not sure why I still have the problem.
