code question

I get an intermittent check engine light on my 1994. Checking the codes shows this:

3 flashes -pause- 4 flashes -pause- 6 flashes -pause- then 55

After reading the manual, I am still confused.

Thanks in advance.

Well, thanks for your suggestion but we are talking about something very different than your 2001 that has an ODB II computer. I already have searched for hours and have a manual in front of me. Please re-read my post. I need to decipher what the check engine flashes mean in MY case. I see three flashes, then four, then six. The codes on the 1994 are (2) digit. So, what does this mean?????

Does it mean I have code 34 -and- code 36. If so, I don't see a cose 36, and the code 34 is not cupposed to set the CEL.

Thanks,

I'm just guessing, but perhaps the first 3 is really a 1 and a 2 = 12 -battery recently disconnected (did you recently [less than about 30 starts ago] replace the battery?). Check the codes again and watch very carefully... the pause between digits is very short. The 46 means the alternator may be starting to go bad...(most likely brushes). Next time it happens, check the voltmeter. You can find the codes at http://allpar.com/fix/80s-codes.html
