Cool Clutch engages while pedal down

Oh, boy. I was sitting at stop light, in 1st gear, clutch pedal all the way to the floor. All at once clutch engaged all by itself, and I had a heck of a time keeping from hitting the guy in front of me. I finally got it out of gear. Then it didn't want to go into any gear til I pumped the clutch pedal. Now all acts normal. I guess this is a hydraulic clutch? If so, maybe leaky master/slave cylinder?
This makes me nervous. Are the master and slave in one unit, or are they separate?

Sounds like your throwout bearing is about to fail and is seizing up.

Mine started doing same except it wouldn't go in gear sometimes and then pushed pedal to floor and wouldnt stop one day until i pumped it a few times. My master cylinder is wet like its leaking under the dash and talked to a few guys that said that is the issue and if you dont replace it can blow out and cause oil to leak in floor. Im starting there though and order south bend upgraded hyd because it was cheaper than factory and according to south bend will work with factory clutch no problems.

If it's not low on fluid it's the master. There is only one seal in the slave and if it goes it will leak to the outside. The inturnal seal on the master can leak fluid by on the inside and not to the outside. If you are not low on fluid then its your master. You can get them separate. The SB kit is already put together and is already got fluid in it and ready to go.

Thanks guys, that's good info, helps a lot.
I'll check the throwout bearing too, but it appears its a leaky master cyl.
I may just replace both master and slave while I'm at it.

Thanks again,
Del

Yeah get the whole unit, its already full of fluid which means no bleeding (big PITA) Took me about 30min to replace the whole unit.
