If you buy bearings according to a list of measurements you will need to verify with plastigage after installation, and if not within specs the fun and blame games begin.
i was told the crank is perfect, so standard it is! So I’ll plastigage and hope for the best!

Yep, but with the crank in spec I never had problems with Cummins bearings. They were all in spec according to my plastigage measuring. (But I still do it for every engine.. )

off topic (hope that’s alright) but what’s a good gasket tack to use? Permatex hi tack 80062 is what my local has.

No tack on the head gasket for me.. also none on the other gaskets. Either a gasket does it's job, or a sealant bead does the job.

Also- crankshaft seals on the Cummins B-series.. Install dry, else they will not seal.
