cleaning pre filter at lift pump

pushing 190k on my 98 and i doubt that this filter screen has ever been changed or cleaned, ? is, is there a gasket that has to be replaced or is it just off/ back on? any tips helpfull

thanks dr evil, that works for me. one more ?, when it has been cleaned should i notice anything different about fuel delivery? other than the obvious?

That all depends on how dirty it is. Most are very clean.
If the filter is extremely dirty you can pretty much assume that the filter in the tank is too.
