Charging issues on my 12V
I have a 1996 12v cummins. One morning I went to start it and the alternator wouldnt turn so it seized and It broke the Surpentine belt. The old alternator worked fine. So I went to Pep Boys got a brand new lifetime warranty alternator and new surpentine belt. Worked fine at first, now it will not put out more than 10 amps. Figured it was a junk alternator brought it back they tested it, gave me the print out and it said it was putting out as it should. So I know the alternators putting out but some how the batteries will not get charged or hold a charge, and on the battery guage its only right about at the first mark at about 10 amps, when it should be up to about 14-16 amps.
Has anyone had this problem or know what to do. Maybe the Batteries are shot?, there from 10/10? Maybe its a bad connections, or fuse, or wire from the alternator to the Batteries?, I just can not figure it out. Please if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot, Tom.

I would take it to a place like Napa or a mechanic and have it tested before going any further.
Never really held Pep Boys in very high regard.
Sort of common for the voltage regulator portion of the PCM to fail especially on '96.
