can i put lucas synthetic gear oil in a tranny
i was told that i should put lucus synthetic gear oil 75-90w in my tranny. said it would help it shift better. right now the truck doesnt like to come out of fifth gear unless i disengage the clutch twice. has anyone ran lucus in their tranny, does it help? or is there a better oil i should use. i am goin to change all of the fluids in the truck. is there any particular oil i should put in the rear diff. does any one know how many quarts go in the tranny and rear diff. also does the 12v hold 12 quarts like my 24v or is it different? thanks for any info.

12valve 11.5. on the tranny the only thing you need to watch is make sure you get the right stuff. the syncros tend to fall apart and deteriorate with the cheap stuff. you wont do it often so why not spring for the goods. cant remember the requirements of the oil but ill look tomorrow.

Its Castrol Syntorq LT 75W85 GL-4. I have run many oils and amsoil and all the others and none shift as good as the right stuff. You can get it at dodge or chevy and some parts stores. its around $20 per qt. Dont skimp. Takes 4qt but I run 5qt just becose.

I hope it works better for you than it did for me. Didn't hurt them but made thim slick and not work well and was hard to shift. It worked fine for a few K but then got harded and harder to shift. Flushed it out and put in the other and it worked fine. Let us know how it works.
