CAD question...

I have noticed diff oil leaking from the CAD assembly, specifically the CAD gasket. I have checked the fluid and it was a little low but not by much. I ordered the right gasket from a 4x4 website.

Here's the question...
Do I unscrew the 4 7/16 bolts and just replace the gasket? If I pull the CAD assembly out are 19 gazillion springs and misc. parts going to fly out. Has anyone done this repair?

Thanks...

All that is there is just the shift fork. Take the 4 bolts out and it will come out pretty easy. Then replace the gasket and put it back in. Make sure you get the shift fork in the shift collar and you'll be fine. Not much to it. You might check the little plastic pieces on the shift fork while you're in there. . . I also used some RTV on mine, but it probably isn't necessary.

Pretty straight-forward though. You'll be fine.

I've done a few and all of them the the bolts were seized where they touch the aluminum housing, just heat them a little and use penetrating oil before you turn them, the bolt head usually snaps right off if you don't heat them first. If they break off just get the cover off and use a vice grip to turn them out of the housing. Other than that Waldersha's post is right on the money. Also check out the posi-lock conversion summit racing has them for $200 works every time and allows 2wd low range it's awesome comes with everything even the gasket.
