Building a 400hp 900 ftlb 6bt need advice
Hi,
I recently bought a cummins 6bt engine that we want to put in a 1956 Chevy Panel truck.
I would like to boost performance and get around 400 hp and 900 ftlb out of the engine. The truck has got to be very driveable. I would use it as a daily driver.
I am looking for a lot of low end torque and power. What combination of parts would you guys advice?
Turbo, injector, fuel plate, dv's?

You can easily up the power and torque but you'll also have to get your 47RH toughened up by someone who has done many of them before. Bear in mind, the more you up the power and torque, the less dependable the engine becomes. You can get a TST plate for not too much and get an immediate h.p. increase and 600 foot pounds of torque without doing anything else to the engine.
How many miles were on the '95 engine? That engine is 21 years old now, and while the Cummins is very long-lived they DO need rebuilds at some point, generally when the oil pressure starts dropping.
