a "good" price is relative to my bank account. I see twins allot that may go for around $2500 used, but when you dont have much, a little is alot.

The upgread for the HX-35 from HTT is good. but I would get an 14cm3 wgt hosing becous the 16 and up will be way to slow with an auto. PRD has them new for $415.

Wink Hybrid with 14cm WG turbine housing

Good advice. The best combo would be the HX40 compressor housing/wheel with the 14cm wastegated housing. I have been trying to get by with my 12cm housing for WAY TOO LONG! I have probably hurt my pistons/rings from eccessive EGTs (pegged the pyro a few times). Another problem I have had with the 12cm housing, is it actually drives the turbo too hard, putting out more air that the engine can take under certain rpm/load conditions. This is no doubt contributed to by a high drive pressure, though I have never put a gauge on it.

BTW, I took my 370s out. You can tell how much fuel they're getting by the quantity of black smoke when you "nail it".

good thread- what about Altitude?

since I live around 5800', and sometimes tow above 8000'...

I'd assume take the best turbo for sea level, and drop the exhaust housing one size? (or the lag will be unbearable)

I'm hitting 32psi with the stock turbo now, soon I'll need to find a way to get more air...
I'm afraid the only way to really do well at this altitude is towing twins, with a small top, and and external wastegate.. (let it spool quick, but almost completely bypass once the big turbo lights)

Not sure if these will help you on a 12v. I wsa looking for about 400 RWHP on my truck... was looking at the Dodgezilla ?

http://www.citydiesel.net/dodgezilla-turbo-p-30.html

and then the Piers - From them:

You could go with a Super S300 at $1070.00
plus a 4" down pipe at $150.00 and clamp at $25.00.

Or you could consider another S300
Turbo with either a 62 or 64mm wheel and either a 12 or 14cm housing. You
might consider the 64/14 combo. That would certainly run cooler than the
regular super S300 but would be slower spooling. Any of those turbos go for
$1450.00 and require the same down pipe and clamp listed above.

I'm sure the compressor wheel is a 57mm. I tried to pull the turbo of the
shelf to see what the a/r ratio is but we don't have any on the shelf at
this time. It would either be a .70 a/r which is about a 12.5cm or a .80a/r
which is about a 14.5cm. It spools extremely quick but that could be the
result of using smaller wheels. I'll see if one shows up soon and take a
look at it when it does.
You might factor selling the old turbo into the equation, probably worth a few bucks on ebay?
