Guys,

what is the easiest way to tell if you have a broken or stuck wastegate? What im experiencing is simple.

I had my wastegate blocked and i noticed that my boost was gettin to be about 40 psi max, and that my acceleration was super slow and sluggish. Taking off on a test drive after retightening my g springs, i noticed that the truck should be faster. I decided to plug the wastegate back in, and now i see more smoke than before on all levels and my boost is about 36-38 psi at max now, but with more smoke levels, than the 40 i had before.

Now last i knew my gate was gated (before i blocked it off initially) at 32 psi, and now i can get it as high as what i stated above,

So did i manage to destroy my gate?

Sounds more like a boost leak to me.

I test drove a new 05, and it wouldn't get out of it's own way. Come to find out one of the boots was not on correctly.

 

I always check the gate with compressed air, 40 psi max or you'll blow out the diaphragm. Never seen a gate stick in any position beside totally closed, the spring is very strong.

 

My 98 24v was acting the sam way, found the WG diaphragm leaking, plugged the line but no joy....overboost and ran like a puppy. I just put a manual spring on it last night, which by no means is perfect, but it made a BIG difference.
