Break Off Screws for Fuel Plate adj....

Hello fellas,

Bein im bored out of my mind today, i decided to go outside and play with the fuel plate on the truck a little bit.. i was gonna set it a smidgen forward for the reason taht i want more smoke again.. The problem is, that my screws have been tampered with enough... They are really really stuck good, and i cant seem to remove them anymore without stripping them further. Prior to me owning the truck they were removed by a screwdriver or what appears to be a chisel.. I would remove them with a screwdriver and light taps till they broke off. The last time i adjusted my plate they were trouble, now as i am playing with them they are becoming more troublesome.. What bolts can I put on there to facilitate removal and adjustment of the fuel plate assembly? I want to remove these bolts one last time and replace them with something that can be reused again.... I dont remember the bolt size or legnth that they were, i was ignorant in the note taking.. My mistake... Does anyone have an easy way to remove them, considering that they are in bad shape already? or does anyone know what bolts i can place on there to facilitate plate access... Thanks

Respectfully

The screws in your AFC housing are M6x1.0 -20 on the engine side and m6x1.0 -25 on the fender side, the ones that go into the fuel shut-off bracket. I bought a set of hex (allen) head screws so I can remove my AFC housing without pulling the intake.

a chissel and hammer to turn them out or left hand drill bit,and if you remove the screw head before it backs out thats fine just remove heads and remove housing and then the screws should turn rite out with small vise grips.

You can also try to hammer a torqs bit into the screw and turn it. I had done that and it worked great.

Make sure you can hit the screws straight on, or you'll ruin the Torx bit. I first tried to do remove them with the fuel injection lines in place, but wound up removing the lines anyhow. Then used a hammer and chisel to loosen the break-off screw.

I have an old Snap-On impact screwdriver. Used that on a few stubborn screws along with drilling and setting a Torx bit.

Now back to your smoke issue. Is the AFC housing full forward? If already full forward, then try the soft AFC spring or both. Adjusted the preset screw to 3 turns?
I'm not really fond of smoke unless used for defensive driving technique of getting the tailgater off the bumper. NASCAR fans must thing drafting is for the highway, too.

No AFC

is really loose... i just wanna put the plate forward again for a lil bit more smoke and power.... at risk of further damaging a clutch, plus i was bored today, smoke is good and fun... he he he he..
