boost question?

I tried to use the search function, but it's disabled.
Today my boost won't get over 12 #.My egt's get up to 1000 deg. very quick. I hear this " Swooooooshing" sound as I get on it. More black smoke.less getty up and go-no fun.
The history of my EGT's, and Boost preasure are , up to 30 lbs. boost, Never seen my EGT's over 800 deg( post turbo on exhaust brake.)
I am assuming I have a hose with a hole in it somewhere.Where is the most suspect hose,if there is such a thing. Can there be other areas I might need to look at also.
I would be outside trying to figure this thing out, but, it's raining and a bit cool.
couldn't think of a better time to ask before I " leap" into unfamiliar waters.
I am learning much much about diesels, only because there are people willing to answere such questions as this one, but then again I.m no " Phi Beta Capa so I learn very slowly.
Thanks , Bill"

Bill: Check all the boot clamps for tightness. Also, the lower boot on the passengers side runs real close to the inner fender housing and can rub on some 2nd gens. Check there for a leak.

I would agree, the lower passenger side boot rubbed through on mine. I had to break out the hammer to get the fender far enough away

Thanks, it was the upper boot on passenger side.Under side had come off, upper side was still where it was suppossed to be.Now knowing what a boot cooming off does,I do feel a bit better.I noticed that the boots all look "ballooned ", is that normal our should I replace them ?

Bill: Glad you found you boost leak. The balloon look is normal. These things last a long time unless they get a hole in them from rubbing on something. Just check the tightness periodically and you are good to go.
