There is a bolt 1 to 2" top right side of where the vacuum pump/power steering bolts to the block. its like a dowel cause its has a round head not a hex or allen it may be some line up pin for some internal part in the gear casing.Im not real sure but its backed out from the block almost a inch.Help before something flails all to pooh

I'm assuming you are speaking about a 12 valve engine here. Is this part on the back side of the gear housing, right between the injector pump and the vacuum pump?

I'm thinking it may be the plastic timing pin that pushes into the back of the camshaft gear to find top dead center.

thanks its nice to know i was worried about nothing for a change.I was running down a oil leak at the vacuum pump when i saw the bolt is there anyway oil could be coming from where this bolt/pin.My luck probably will be its the tappet cover

Yes, there is an o-ring that seals the pin's housing to the gear housing, and another o-ring around the pin that seals the pin to its housing.

The injector pump can leak where it mounts to the gear housing, the vacuum pump can leak where it meets the gear housing, the vacuum pump itself can leak between its case halves, and there is a gasket that can leak between the gear housing and block.

I need to know what year engine you have. On the 1st gen trucks, there is a gasket directly between the injector pump and the gear housing.

On the 2nd gen trucks, there is an o-ring on the front snout of the injector pump that fits into the bore of the gear housing.

On both generations, there is a gasket between the front of the vacuum pump and the gear housing.
