Blue/grey haze at startup. Help?

So I have an issue thats been going on for some time now on my '96. Every time I start it up it's got this blueish haze that won't go away (even after it warms up to operating temp) till I drive it for a bit. Really no idea where to start with this issue, seems to have started after I got the timing advanced to 18 degrees, which makes me think maybe I need different injectors or something?
Just to clarify, I've got 024 delivery valves, 18 degrees timing, #100 fuel plate and 4k gov springs on the pump, does that sound like an ok setup? As far as I know the injectors are stock.

Is it an auto or manual '96? I ask as they have different sized injectors.

Is it burning / using oil?

I would NOT get bigger injectors, if you can not clear up the haze you have already.

Whoa! I can't believe I forgot about this thread! Facepalm. Oops!

The truck has a 5 spd manual, and it's not burning or using oil, it is leaking out my main seal but that's an issue I will fix soon.
The reason I'm confused is it only does this when idling, and once I drive it for say a mile or two it clears up and will idle clean again. I was thinking it might be injectors because it doesn't run quite as smooth as I feel it should, seems to rattle more than the other 12 valves my friends own.

Any help appreciated, thanks!
(Still can't believe I never answered this, *shakes head*) lol

My truck has done that before, but it stopped doing it. I had the thought maybe it was the fuel. It doesn't do it now, and hasn't for some years, but it sure did it in... 2015, along in there.

Interesting, I wonder why it stopped... My friend just told me his 2004 does it too, same as mine, so now I dunno

Bluish smoke would generally be from oil burning I believe. When it was happening I was going to the same gas station all the time. I still think it was the fuel.

I see, so would burning oil cause it to only smoke blue when cold and idling? Cause once I start driving it goes away, clears right up and burns perfectly clean when idling after the first bit of driving. And my buddy’s 24 valve does the exact same thing.
I’m not sure what it could be really, I don’t have any oil/coolant mixing happening nor the other signs of head gasket failure.

Also, the exhaust doesn’t smell like oil, just fuel, so I dunno, I’m thinkin I’ll get the injectors pop tested when the local mechanic gets back from wherever the heck he is.

On another note though, I was doing some tuning on my AFC today and getting a little frustrated trying to find that elusive “sweet spot”, I’ve read so many forums about this but it just doesn’t seem to work for me lol.

It also seems that in order to control WOT fuel I have to keep the fuel plate (homemade #100) all the way back, and then it has a nice haze. If I move it say 3/16 of an inch forward it turns into a freight train at full throttle with 40+ psi boost from my HE351. I don’t even want to think what it would be at full forward. I’m just not sure if I’ve got something wrong with my setup cuz seems like everyone runs their fuel plates and afc housing all the way forward with no problems. Were the 024 delivery valves a mistake with my 215 pump? I got em free is why I put them in

Big DVs and idle haze.. they almost inevitably go together.

IMHO with just a HE351 turbo you haven't got the air to need the big DVs, you should get the same power much cleaner with the stock ones in the 215 pump.
