Blue/Gray smoke @ idle
I've noticed it appears that I'm getting more blue/gray smoke at idle than what was normal.
It's more predominate when cold - which I understand to be normal.
Is this a sign of timing being off, valve's needing adjustment (need to do this anyway)?
Looks like a 'gasser' that's burning oil.
(yeah, I know this is an 'oil' burner)
I still haven't put gauges in - don't have any other parameters to provide.

Yes, it is.
Today was in the mid 70's and still smoking after it had been well warmed up.
I'm assuming it has slipped.
Seems to run fine overall. But, it has been a 'little' hesitant starting in the morning when cold, not bad, just an extra rotation before firing. - we're talking mid 30's here in Texas.
Anyone recommend a shop that will deviate from factory specs regarding the timing in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area?
It's in stock condition, the only I might do in the future is add a 3k GSK spring kit and maybe move the stock fuel plate.
Would 16 degrees advance be too much?
I don't want to lose much/any bottom end - but wouldn't mind an increase of mileage at highway speed.

Mine BLOWS the smoke in the cold mornings(20 degrees) for around 3 to 4 minutes. It starts on the very first crank and runs excellent. How much smoke is too much when its cold out and she is warming up? I know mine just sits there and blows smoke at the stupid neighbors,, Their problem not mine AHA AHHHA AHHHHHAAA

I'm probably close to 17* in 2nd gen talk. She fires right up, but when it's 0*, she'll fog pretty good. This pic is after being plugged in for 1.5 hours...not really enough to do anything.

What's all that 'white' stuff on the ground?
Remember, I'm here in Texas.
Today was 70 degrees.
Met a customer to discuss their new restaurant and as I'm backing up he's just looking at the smoke coming from the pipe as I fog him - it's a bit annoying.
I don't see anything while cruising, at least that I can tell - might even go so far as having my wife follow on the highway to confirm.
Just so I'm sure I understand - if the timing had slipped, heavier smoke at idle would be the normal symptoms, correct?
Edit:
BTW, I had changed the overflow valve out about 2-3 months ago.
