Biodiesel
First off, I like to say what a wonderfully site and Thank you for having me aboard.
I have a 97 dodge 12v Stock.
Is there anything i need to do to run Bio in my truck?. I know I need to change Fuel Filter after the third tank. I heard don't run bio in your truck and others say it will be fine. An will hurt my mileage when runnin Bio?. Right now I am getting around 20 mpg.
i had this truck for 4 years now and never broke down on me yet ( Knock on wood ). This truck best truck that I ever owned.
Thanks in Advance!!

My 97 loves bio. As far as changing filters, just time it so your getting close to a filter change, run a tank or two, change the filter and be done with it.
You will like how smooth and how much quiter the engine is on bio. Nothing special needs to be done right away, just check out the short rubber sections of fuel line by the transmission (supply and return lines). If you have not changed them out, do so. They get old and start to leak air into the fuel system. Bio will help them die if they are old. See my picture gallery for an easy mod to the fuel lines so changing them won't be much hassle.
It basically eliminates a section of braided and hard line between the fram and the engine. It replaces them with rubber lines, reducing connections and making things allot easier to get at. I run rubber lines from the frame to the rigid lines on the engine.
Or you can do like infidel suggests and abandon the metal lines on the frame, and run rubber front to back.
Run the bio and enjoy, I know you will be pleased. KD

I've been running Bio made from canola deep fry oil, totally washed, filtered by a good friend of mine. The truck loves it and it definitely cleans out the fuel system and engine. I haven't determined any significant change in mileage, but who cares really? I get the bio for 50% the price of regular pumped fuel so why care about the mileage.

Where are you guys getting your biodiesel at? I'm located in the heart of the ethanol production for the country but don't see biodiesel around here. I know bluesun produces a high quality biodiesel out to the west of me and I'm hoping the make their way into my territory sometime soon.

Depends on how high of a concentration you run. The guy that both Lil Dog and myself were getting the bio from had his tank gelled completely at -30 running 60% bio. He said at 20-30%, he never had a problem. Just run it thinner, or dump some anti-gel in the tank.

Whenever you buy biodiesel or biodiesel blends in the winter, try storing some in a glass jar in a refrigerator or outside for a couple of days. Look closely at the bottom and you will see "dust". If you don't see it right away, gently swirl the jar. This stuff will plug you filter eventually and no additive or kerosene will fix it.

Regular diesel with 2% bio (Minnesota mandate) raises cloud point about 10°F. Needless to say I'm up around 70% #1 in the tank these days. (Tonight is supposed to be -25°F.) #1 has higher cetane and the 2% keeps lubricity up.

Plus i like to meet the guy who design the fuel filter location and tell him what i think. Mine was leaking bad and had to replace in middle of the night with wind chill around 0 and i didn't have shetler around

Been running B100 with no problems.Fuel milage stayed the same.If you are getting it from someone thats making there own, make sure the processing is done right and also the bio has to be washed and more than once.DON"T PUT UNWASHED BIO IN YOUR TANK.
