The turbo comes off real easy, then you can see the ports.
Stuff a rag in there to catch the metal shavings, then vacuum out the rest.
Go thru slow w/ the drill bit as to not get tangled up in the rag.

I don't know what all the concern about chips is about.
It's almost like folks think they're drilling into the intake air side of the turbo.
The chips will blow out the exhaust the first time you start the engine.
I've installed dozens of probes without doing anything special and have yet to have one problem.
All this grease, magnets and removing parts just seems like a waste of time to me.

I 3rd that notion...............at most, drill it with the engine running at idle positive pressure won't let anything fall in in the 1st place. that cast is so soft if you know how to use hand tools, it'll take you seriously 60 seconds to poke a hole with the drill and run the NPT tap down........JUST far enough.

just blast a hole with the engine idling the shavings will come right out the top. put grease on the tap and tap away. (might let the manifold cool for a few minutes. im sure the turbo sees worse from deposits breaking off the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for great info!!

I am sure a few drill shavings/chips will not hurt.... will try to minimum but if a few go thru... o well!!!

Thanks again for info!!!!

definatly dont drill in the center (oops) u will have incorect readings or at least i do should have paid attention to the instructions instead of saying " i know what im doing" lol but the other 10-15 pyros ive installed since on friends and customers trucks work great mine was the first one i had ever done i guess if we didnt make mistakes we would never learn i havent ever taken a turbo off to drill either but i do use a pencil magnet to help keep the larger peices out of the manifold and just really to make me feel better
