I just looked up their website....http://www.valvoline.com/premiumblue/ and the regular PB is CJ Blend. The PB Extreme is still CI-4+.

Same with Rotella and Rotella Synthetic. Reg. Rotella is CJ and the Rotella Synthetic is CI-4+.

Hmmm, crap. I just bought a case of Rotella T 15W40 Triple Protection gallons, its CJ-4. I also have one of the old Rotella T15W40 gallons (no Triple Protection badge), its shown as CI-4 PLUS. I wonder if this is the same stuff, or did Shell have to change the formulation to meet CJ-4 requirements? Are all the manufacturers going to CJ-4...what is CJ-4? off to the internet...

If Cummins and none of the other big diesel manufactures are worrying about the new oil I am not going to either.

The test used a Valvoline PB rated at CI-4PLUS, but the current PB is CJ-4...are the test results still valid?

My local Cummins dealer still has the older CI+ 15w40 oil. They had 200+ gallons in stock.

oil

Good thread, if alarming. I just bought two gallons of Chev. Delo 400 15-40.....LE. Grange Supply here said that is all they can get now in Delo 400. So should I scrap the LE?

This is getting disgusting.

I just started stocking up oil. I usually have enough for 2 oil changes sitting around but after this article, I've been stock piling. Maybe then the CJ-4 oil will be better.

At some point though, CJ-4 will be all we can get so....

I agree almost 100% but some of the off road engine manufacturers such as John Deere are recommending if you use off road low sulfur diesel (LSD)instead of on road ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) that you should stick to CI oil.

Think as time passes all the concern about CJ oil will be unfounded.
