Battery Terminal Corrosion

On the original batteries from Dodge I had no corosion, but since replacing them I am getting quite a bit on the terminals. I just replaced batteries for the second time as I like to replace them every few years just to be on the safe side.Originals replaced in 02,next set in 07.The charging system seems ok,is it just the brand?Any tips for keeping them clean?

There are chemicals to help with this , one is a cleaner [ if you have the corrosion ] the other is a protectant [ keeps the corrosion from happening .
Be careful with the cleaner , it neutralizes the acid , so if it gets into the cells , it will kill the battery , this is a part that may be a brand problem , if the caps do not do a good job of keeping gases in then that can be part of your problem .
Then there may be an issue with the charging system , over charging , putting out excess gases .
Start with the maintenance 1st , cleaner & protectent .

Take a kettle with some water, boil it like your making hot cocoa.

Go outside with the kettle and pour it on your terminals. It will melt that stuff off like majic.

some people mix baking soda and water.

I bought a little aerosol can of battery terminal protector and have been used it for a couple years with no corrosion problems at all. I just give the terminals a quick shot of it every other oil change or so and they are fine. Just keep em clean and it will save you alot of problems later on.
