Bad Vacuum Pump?

I had a problem with my A/C distribution system and found some oil in the vacuum lines that control the baffles/doors of the A/C system. Does anyone know if the vacuum pump can put oil in the lines when it starts to go bad? If so, will installing a "vacuum pump reseal kit" cure this problem?
Thanks.

They are VACUUM lines. They suck air, not blow oil into the passageways. I don't know where the oil is from, but the pump didn't put it there. The vacuum pump seal kit is for an oil leak from the connection to the power steering pump. About $11 from Cummins.

As a side note to your sig, I'm a retired CW4, Apache rated in 1985.

Some years had a recall to fix exactly what you speak of.
Recalls are free no matter how many miles or owners the truck has had.
Check if the recall has been done here, you will need your VIN
http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/...m('R')

Recall details here http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/720.htm

Bill, I checked out that site and here's what my vin turned up:
"No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist"

Does that mean all the recalls have been done on my truck?
Or that none have been done?

It means that someone kept up with all the recalls.
By '98 they had most everything figured out and there were fewer recalls but I'm pretty sure there were still a couple.
Only way I know of to find which recalls were actually done is to take your VIN to the dealer. While you're at it they can print you out a build sheet for your truck that has a lot of info you won't find elsewhere.

Man that's a long time back but if I remember right there was a problem if you had a key chain with a bunch of keys on it they could get wedged in the space inbetween the steering wheel and the dash, locking up the steering.
Recall pulled the steering wheel to install this funky plastic disc in the space to keep your extra keys out.
