I was wondering how to properly install the retaining clip on the Dana 70 rear axel? I pounded mine straight in and left it at that. It just don't trust the clip sitting like that. Does the tab need to be bent in any way?

you did it right , just tap it in , although , FWIW , your supposed to replace that clip with a new one every time you remove it.
