Axle gear ratio question

Axle gear ratio question
I am getting close to pulling the trigger on doing a gear change from the 4.10's in my 97 Dodge to 3.54's. I swear on this site I read several posts from people saying that the carrier needs to be changed on the Dana 70 since I am going from 4.10's to 3.54's - but my research on several drivetrain sites shows that the carrier break is for 4.10 and numerically lower - or 4.56 and numerically higher. It looks to me like I can just swap gears and not have to change the carrier - can anyone confirm this?

It seems to vary. Check out Reider racing and look under the Dana Trac Lok and Power Lok. From the looks of it, the Trac Lok changes part # when it hits the magic 4:10, but the Power Lok remains the same.
