I've only had the truck about a month (93 D-250 3.54 gears manual trans, and stock tires), it seems as though my mileage is inline with everyone else! That's a good thing! To date I've checked it twice, combined city/country 20.1.Towing a 2.5K trailer ( drove it harder than I needed to)18.9. Truck is stock as a stove!

That are pretty good #s for mileage.
Post in the 1st gen section for more specific VE pumped 12Vs stuff.

I have 96 3500 with 235/85-16 and 4.10s. I got 15.5 on the way from texas to little rock empty at highway speeds. Would love to get those highway RPMs down around 1900 to 2000 compared to the 2500 rpm I turn currently.

I've got a '95 2500 with 3.55 gears. I get 22 on the Interstate highways if I keep it at about 65-67.

My 98 12v twin turbo truck was getting 17 as a commuter, and would get 21 when we took it on family trips.
The 95 2wd gets 23 as a daily commuter, and 26 on a road trip.

My totally stock '96 2500 4X4 automatic with 3.55 gears gets an average of 15.5mpg to and from work. Towing an enclosed trailer into the mountains it got around 12mpg. Once while driving empty from Myrtle Beach SC to Richmond VA I got 23.8 mpg. The land is flat, I was in no traffic, and running around 65mph with cruise set, and it was cool enough outside that I didn't need AC. I stopped for fuel because I thought the gauge was bad. It also seems that my mileage suffers once I get the engine over 2000 rpm.

mileage not very good

Have a '97 12v, 2wd, Goerend auto, with a modest plate - #10, I think - and my mileage when empty is bad - only around 12 mpg. When pulling a 6 ton trailer it drops to about 10 mpg.

Any ideas on how to bump up the (empty) mileage?
