Re:Average Fuel Milage For A 12V

Sounds good, the only reason i'm asking is that i'm going to be getting a 4x4 and get rid of my car..I would really like a dodge, but even better a dodge diesel. Which hopefully I will be getting in the next couple months... ;D I would be driving it at least 60miles a day to and from work, which should give it a good run since most of it is highway.....

Re:Average Fuel Milage For A 12V

Update - just pulled a Chebby 4WD across NC from Western Carolina University to about 45 miles east of Raleigh

Running 70-75 mph where I could with about 10K load (gooseneck with 4WD manual trans C30 cab and chassis) it got 15.7 on the way out empty and back about 100 mountain miles loaded. Got 14.3 on the rest of the way back but that also found me stuck in three different stop-and-go traffic jams for a total of about 10 miles.

With the 3.55s most hills are best taken at 70 - under 70 she would start to slow down towards the top. Not bad for a stock truck with 145K miles.

Wow I guess I should be feeling kind of lucky.

Re:Average Fuel Milage For A 12V

I average around 18.5 with mine. I have the 3.54 gears and 305/70r16 tires. I am getting ready to go back to smaller tires so maybe that will help and maybe that will hurt. I drive about 1000 miles every weekend and I have never gotten below 17 mpg.

97, 4wd, 4:10's, 89,000 miles. I get around 17 to 18 everyday driving, 20+ all highway. Changes in the winter though with winter blend fuel. I find it drops by 2mpg with the thinner winter fuel.

Hey NY MEDIC,

I would kill for your mileage! Question though, what tire size are you running?

Re:Average Fuel Milage For A 12V

I have a non intercooled 89 & get 25 mpg steady on heavy fuel , in the winter it drops somewhat due to lighter fuel , the only mods are straight pipe & i tuned the pump , it now makes 300Hp & 930 ftLbs tq at the tires

Re:Average Fuel Milage For A 12V

My truck weighs 8,000# stock I got 13-17 mpg at over 500hp I get 13-15 this is city, freeway or towing. The lowest I ever got was 11.5 mpg in the mountains towing 12,000# at an average of 60+mpg. No noticable change in fuel milage, these are with the speedo corrected.
