What's your idle speed? If it's too low, it will be VERY slow to engage trans into gear, would be simple fix.

Already changed the fluid and filter. Talked to Dave at Goerends and he told me a few things to do.. First thing was to add a bit more fluid. It did help a bit but I still get the neutral thing at time in first gear.. it'll disengauge and then slam in when I give it some throttle..

If my idle speed was too low, wouldn't this problem have occurred from the get go?

Thanks

is it not engaging or is it engaging in a higher gear? i had the govenor pressure sensor go out in mine and it would go into limp mode and start out in 2 gear when it was cold. after it was warmed up and i had restarted the truck it would be fine. just another thought foryou.

Well I have a little better description of the problem.

When I first start the truck in the morning, RPMs are about 600.. When warm they are closer to 900.

I have now been puttting the truck in netraul for a bit to get the fluid moving in the tranny when the truck is cold.
If I put it in reverse, it engauges right away. If I let off the throttle and hit the brakes, and then hit the throttle again after releasing the brakes, the truck will just rev to about 1500RPM before finally engauging again. Seems to be the same in Drive.

When its warm it tends not to display this problem as much, very minimal.
Also, I still have had a time or 2 where the tranny seems to go to neutral and re between the 2-3 shift.

Any ideas?

If you have a Transgo kit, it modifies cooler flow in the valvebody to 100% at all times off the pump. This means that it does not matter if the tranny is in neutral or not to check the ATF level.....full flow now exists in park also.....

You need to take the truck back to the tranny shop.....it sounds like you need a diagnoses froma tranny tech.

The pinhole leak was the culprit.. It doesn't leak much at idle but its enough to drain a good amount of fluid over a tank of fuel..
I feel stupid but BS happens..

Put a new trans cooler line on and hopefully most of my leaks will be fixed and it'll hold up for awhile..

Thanks for the support.
