Anyone running a coolant filter setup?

If so, what are you using and how do you have it plumbed in? I've been pushing the idea around of putting one in somewhere down the road.

coolant

You won't find any ISB in trucks commercial or Dodge with a coolant filter , now if you had a liner equipped engine such as the ISC and bigger engine , you will find a coolant filter for liner protection.

Aren't most coolant filters actually just slow release DCA cartridges?

with fleetguard you can get filters with zero DCA on up in increments of 2 all the way up to 8 I believe....

I have been running a filter for about the past 10000 miles. I used the Fleetguard cartridge that does not add any DCA additives. It is just a filter cartridge as per the advice of the people at Fleetguard. I used the spin-on cartridge adapter for the filter and set it down in the hole on the pass side between the battery, the radiator and coolant recovery bottle. I could not find a good place to mount it with a bracket so just stuck it down there. It works fine.

For plumbing, I used 3/8 push lock hose with JIC -6 fittings. I used the 1/2 bung on the block behind the alternator for water in, and I added a a hole to the elbow where the water from the radiator goes into the pump down above the A/C compressor for water return from the filter. It made a clean setup with proper circulation.

So far, the coolant has stayed clean and bright, and there is reduced scale buildup in the system.

You can probably get the same result by running Evans Cool waterless coolant.....has a higher boiling point and eliminates corrosion.

Yeah but the Evans costs a small fortune, then a hose breaks...

I read the Evans website and at the bottom it states "not for daily drivers or cold weather"

I have done so in the heater hoses and made a by pass in the summer. The filter worked good on the old dodge. jimk
