Anyone ever use blackwater engines?

Bought a 1998 2500 12v 5speed down in Iowa last fall with 170,000 miles on it. Drove it a month and the dowel pin broke, wedged between the gears (so the shop told me) and ruined the main bearings.

After pricing out work and rebuilding I opted for a crate motor from Remanufactured Automotive, Industrial, Marine and Agricultural Diesel Long BlockEngines - Blackwater Engines

We used almost all new parts when we received the new motor, not a corner was cut. The head mechanic at the shop drove it to and from work for 3 days per my request to make sure it ran flawless. I received the truck with 250 miles on the new motor. I drove it for 3 days, to 740 miles and either A) a main bearing went bad or B) the cap on the bearing was installed wrong or broke.

Anyone ever use their engines before? its been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear back about a warranty motor being shipped out. $14,000 into a $13,000 pickup and it lasts 740 highway miles? Something not right here.

Thanks

If you haven't heard in 3 weeks why are you not burning up the phone?

Every time I call I get a "let me talk to so and so and we will get back to you" type of answer or "the file is on so and so's desk and he should get to it today"

Has anyone had main bearing problems before in a crate motor? How is this even possible? Can anyone suggest a reputable reman company because there are a lot.. Thanks

Never ever heard of a stray dowel pin ruining a main bearing. Cracking the timing case maybe. Did it run out of oil due to dowel pin crack? You have had some bad luck there my friend. I hope they step up and do the right thing. Keep us posted.

No matter who builds them, things can and will happen.

That being said, there should be zero BS from them if they are a reputable company, you didn't install it in your back yard, and they need to step up with another engine.
