Alternator may be going out??

Every morning I start my truck my volt meter suges up and down. My headlight go bright then dim for about 5 minutes. Then the volt meter stays put the rest of the day. Only happens in the morning... I am thinking bad voltage regulator? But it is stange it only happens the first 5 minutes of each morning???

Your truck

does not have an external regulator, Least mine didnt, voltage regulation is controlled by PCM, if this is a failiure, some have had good luck with putting an external regulator, and others (myself mainly ) have not had good luck, after much debate and more stuff going out i said to heck with it and got the PCM, no more problems since, but at over 600 bucks i can assure you thats money that hurts to let go of....

Outside of the puny brushes & slip ring, the Denso alternator is pretty tough considering the duty.
