96 and newer is OBD2, so what happens if you plug into the port? Do we just have it because Dodge put them in every truck?

I always like to tell people my check engine light has never come on, and they should get a Dodge too

Well, I got it registered no problem, they only checked the VIN, the EPA label and the mileage.
My weight cert did read 5300#

So I"m good to go, and moving forward with mild mods, mostly to get optimal towing (which I don't have now...)

I sure don't want to wait another 15months to see if I can get more out of this truck, so worse case scenario I would fail a test and have to change things back to stock, not so difficult really. Keeping the cat isn't hurting my egts, but I"m sure I"m losing some power there...

Barngal6 I live south of you near Fresno and I had my truck shipped in from Texas 6 years ago and all I needed was a weight cert and they checked the vin and engine plate. I have since removed stock exhaust and cat and put on 4 in MBRP and removed stock air box and put on high flow open air AFE Stage 1 box. Truck sure runs better. I also use my truck for hauling horses and hay occasionally and am looking for better towing performance in the mountains. I'm looking to install a #10 plate, 3k GSK and change timing to 16.
I'm hoping they don't bother me about smog.

Wow, the first time I registered here, they told me if I didn't have that little plate on my gear case, I wouldn't be allowed to register the truck in CA.
I'll have to look into what the id plate means..
I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps with mods, but no GSK till I'm ready for a new clutch, just in case
