AFC stripped threads....

Try a longer 6mm screw so you can get to the remaining threads, usually work for me. If that doesn't work, then drill/tap for heli-coil would be the proper fix.

I had a "mechanic" strip the threads when he went in to do a unauthorized change of my plate. Of course I didn't notice it for some time, but the fix was easy. The hole is another 3/8" deeper than the bolt, so I just tapped to the bottom and put in a longer bolt. If you want to get a few more threads in, grind the point and part of the taper off the tap. I can't crank on it hard, but it has been holding for a year now, no leaks. If that does not work, you can always do the heli-coil

No, I just ran a tap down the hole, no drilling, just "added" more threads to the existing hole. I did grind off the tip of the tap as I mentioned above to get a few extra threads. Tape over the fuel plate to keep metal from falling in.
To be honest with you, I have never used a heli-coil, can't offer anything there. Let us know how it all works out.
