adjusting timing without tools

On the little pumps the seem to like a little more timing that the others, if you turn the fuel up in the little pumps and don't have enough timing they tend to pop a little on the topend, if they do then add another degree of timing and I'd bet it will go away.
More timing shouldn't scare you, remember it's not the timing, it's the Cyl pressure! Now add more boost to the equation and it gets worse.
The 15-16 degree statement will do for most people as far as adding timing and yes it is conservative so even if I do someone's truck that's what I shoot for.
If your setup to handle it 18 degrees seems to work real good for the Street, 20 if you have allot of fuel.........I run 20-21!

I am running 16 on the timing,and it was done by a friend who only works on Cummins..he said this was the optimum setting.I do know it made a HUGE difference in how good my truck runs...mileage dropped off though...I can't keep my foot out of it <><
