You'll gain more smoke then HP if you tweaked the plate and the AFC adjustment on a good day down hill maybe 10 more horse's with no other mod's

WhiteKnight,
When I did that to my '97, this was the result.
K&N air filter in the stock box
4" exhaust from turbo back
Stock plate slid all the way forward
Mustang dyno- 225hp and 625 torque
The only problem was that I did not dyno the stock truck first for a baseline.

He gained more than 10HP. Not too mention, look at the TQ number. The 215 number is FWHP....the dyno numbers were actual hp to the ground. Expect a 15-18% loss in hp thru the driveline.

Re:97' puppy how much H.P if stock plate slid forward?

I just moved my factory plate Full Fwd. the other day and its a very noticeable kick in the tail! ;D Definately more than 10HP, I believe I've read elsewhere that its between 20 and 40HP. 40HP sounds a little high, I'd say between 20 and 30 extra horsies.

Ordering my clutch next week!! Then I can get my #10 plate!! WooHoo 330HP/750TQ[glow=blue, 2, 300](to the rear wheels!)[/glow] here I come!

Actual BOMBing is a lot more fun than dreaming of BOMBing.

Re:97' puppy how much H.P if stock plate slid forward?

Well........for what's its worth, my truck was 160 hp stock and a year and a haft ago I had the Cummins dealer slip my stock plate forward 40 thousands and he said that it netted me 40hp, 10 hp for every thou. So after I drove it I was satisfied to the point that I am not investing in another plate until I have a need for it. And It doesn't smoke. So what ever he did was well worth it if your the type that is looking for hp for dollars spent. 160 up to 200 for 50 bucks labor.

Re:97' puppy how much H.P if stock plate slid forward?

Mine would only get hot at WOT in 4th and 5th gear. Otherwise they never got over 1100. I pulled a 35ft Avion 5th wheel through the hill country. Trailer weighed about 14,500. Never got over 1100.
Mines all the way forward, and EGT's have never been over 1000 empty. Other day pulled a 26000 GVW load down highway at 65 and never over 1100. carty
