The title says it all guy's!!! Truck only has 176000 on it, I am the original owner, and yes it's been treated good. Motor is 215 hp, with a #10 centered, 370 injectors, 3k gov springs, and 18 degrees of timing( and it;s a 53 block). Replaced head gasket about a year ago, put back together with studs. Now what to do??? Part#s, suggestions, ect...

Also oil just changed less than 750 miles ago, and 2 oil samples are showing very high wear metals...

See if the vaccuum lines have a leak. When I bought mine the line to the cruise control was leaking whick meant nothing vaccuum operated worked (4X4, cruise, interior vents) and the breather spewed oil. I fixed the leak and everything worked plus no oil out the breather.

Bob has it right. The vacuum pump is just a compressor, the pressure side exits into the engine. No vacuum leaks, no air to compress.
Easy way to check for a leak is to run the engine for a few minutes, shut it down for a few then disconnect any vacuum line. If it doesn't hiss you have a leak. A vacuum system with no leaks will hold vacuum for several days if not weeks.

Okay Guy's, I have checked the vacuum the only thing it controls now is the cruise, and interior dampers. Just change the oil 750 miles ago, took 2 samples of the new oil with 500 and 750 miles respectively, both samples show very high wear metals...When i say high I mean 4-6 times the universal averages for a b series with 6000 miles on the oil... Motor runs great otherwise, no abnormal knocks, good oil pressure...I am at a loss as to what has happenned. Second sample did show 1.5% fuel dilution, injectors have been checked, I just don't know!

Thanks,

Greg

What metals is it showing high for in the sample? That would give an idea whether its bearings, rings, pistons.

Those are high #s for 750 mile oil but they cant tell all with out regular tests being done to track a problem.
Looks like a ton of bearing material, funny because generally oil pressure will suffer if a bearing is going out? With the high fuel/iron/chrome and lots of blow-by there is a good chance of one cyls is not sealing properly?
I would pull it apart and look before any more damage is done.

Forgot to add, when I scorred a cyl on my 24v my sample came back with
37** iron
17** chrome
The engine showed no signs of bad running but the blow-by was pretty bad.

Beginning to think the same thing happenned to mine...Just don't know why have always run Delo, and fleetguard filters. Longest ever between change was 7500 miles, and engine has not seen abusive egt's.

What would cause a scored cylinder? This engine is blowing oil, need suggestions as to what my next move should be...May just rebuild it, but unsure what things I should have done at the machine shop when I do...I seriously need input...

Thanks

if you have excessive blowby i would suspect your rings may be shot, and a scored cylinder is usually cause by a lack of lubrication to the cylinder walls

Anyone who has experience rebuilting one of the monsters, please chime in with opinion, suggestions, recommended parts, and people that I can hopefully get good deals on parts with and machining with.

Thanks
