96 12V hard start when real hot
Looking for some help. Yesterday it was pretty hot, about 105. I know thats not extreme, but for Nor. Cal. its about as hot as it gets. Anyway, it started fine a couple of times then later on in the day after sitting for 2+ hours it wouldnt fire. turned over for about 10-15 seconds and finally started after pedaling it while cranking. Happened twice so when I got home I tried priming it with the button( but dont think I pushed it enough(maybe only 5-6 times) Still wouldnt start. Went out this morning and it started just fine, like normal. Im thinkin its either an electrical issue or maybe like a vapor lock. wouldnt think diesel would do that though. BTW once it would start when acting up, it would run normal. Any thoughts?

Didn't think the '96 did this but the '94-'95 injection pumps have a problem with the injection pump plunger bores warping at high temps causing the delivery valves to stick.
Causes stalling at speed mostly, once the injection pump cools a little it's no problem.
Try pouring some water on the injection pump the next time it happens.
Hopefully it won't make any difference but if it does you know where the problem is.
