96 12v Fuel shutoff solenoid cummins part number
Looking for the part number for a fuel shutoff solenoid for a 96 12v 5 speed for my buddy, he is getting tired of manually moving the solenoid to start the truck, thanks

The solenoid rarely fails, problem almost always lies elsewhere.
Most solenoids are replaced needlessly and should last the life of the truck.
If the solenoid has failed it is usually very visibly burned on the outside. Wires to it are usually melted.
Problem is usually a corroded blue wire at the battery positive terminal or a bad shut off relay on the firewall.
You can get the relay here, and even a solenoid if need be far cheaper than the dealer http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

thanks for the info, ill tell him to check the wiring and see what kind of shape that is in, The truck always shuts off fine once it is running, but to start it you have to manually push the spring up that is inside the rubber boot.

If your friend wanted to save some money he could always rig up a choke cable to pull the lever up and down manually. Would only cost a few bucks and works every time....
