96 12 valve mods

So i just picked up a 96 3500 5 speed 4x4. hoping the wife will let me keep it as i originally picked it up to flip but like the truck.

has a 215hp p7100.

only mods so far are a BHAF and cold air intake.

what kinda mods are required to get to 4-500hp?

thinking ill do fuel plate, gov spring, straight pipe guages and clutch.

not really sure whats the best order of upgrades after the above.

Injectors? Turbo?

After clutch and head studs, turbo and injectors will get you to a pretty easy 400+. Stock injectors are 5x10 and will support over 300hp, 5x12 or 5x14 can run pretty clean for a daily driver. Add a turbo to the stocker for a wide powerband and keep it versatile, or go with a larger single for a cheaper/simpler upgrade, loose a bit of low end spooling.

What are your plans for the truck?

its a toy for me. I will likely do a srw conversion, 3" level lift 33 or 35" tires. just a fun weekend not daily driver. although I commute 37 miles each way so i will proby drive to work on occasion. but not rely on it.

something fun to drive. roll coal on prius, and tailgaters, take to pismo and haul dirtbikes etc. nothing serious.

what are the twin turbo options? I see kits on summit for 5k for twins and piping kits for 2500? that seems excessive for an old farm truck. surley there is a mroe reasonable option then spending that kinda money on a 7k truck?

Banks intake was the best $700 I've spend on my rig! That with a 4" straight pipe & 75hp injectors and the beast will do anything. Still running the stock turbo with no problems. Altogether spent maybe a few grand to get her to the hp range you're looking for.
