95, real slow, no power, help me out here

Bill, how did your 95 auto run when you got it?
I couldn't even pass on a two lane road unless I backed way off the car ahead to get a running start. Fortunately for me mine was only stock for 4000 miles, heck with the warranty.
Now with mods if I floor it at 60 mph I can be breaking 80 easily by the time I pass another car.

rpm's
revs real smooth. brought it up to 70mph at 2700 rpms, it was still going, but really, really slow.
i thought about the waste gate being open, but havnt delt with one before. tryed moving the acuator arm, but didnt budge. i wacked it with a wrench, but it didnt make a diffrence when i drove it agian.
can u manually, open and close the waste gate on a hx35/12w? this would also explain no spool up, if this thing was open, right?
thanks, Bob

When the wastegate fails it's almost always closed position and will give you no trouble. The spring that holds it closed is very strong.
Your description sounds like either someone has messed with the AFC spring or the diaphragm under it is torn. You can tell if it's been messed with if the bolt at the very rear of the injection pump doesn't have a tamper indicator wire though it.

thanks every one.
i am going back out there tomorrow, and take a closer look at the truck. and my tool box. the dealer wanted me to dig into today, but i didnt have any tools. plus i am not that familar with the p-pump. but i have a filling i will be soon. what gets me is my 1st gen runs like a demon compared to this 95.
so, this is what i will look at.
AFC on the pump.
heater screen
W/G actuator.
and relay all this to the dealer to get checked. including cat. muffler
how hard is it to fix the track bar? upper and lower ball joints are going as well.
thanks every one.
keep any more ideas coming please.
Bob.

Trac bar is a cake walk. Ball joints always stink. Honestly if the dealer cant fix it and is willing to sell her cheap I dont think that I would spend much time fixing there. Strike the deal and fix her at home. If the IP was gone through and is fine I bet the problem is a cheap fix. Good luck

What about fuel shut off solenoid, my 97 was a dog with no spool up and NO power, very very slow acceleration and a almost dead pedal because the solenoid came apart and would pull lever up all the way. Easy way to check is to disconnect the end of the solenoid form the arm and wire the arm up. Then start it up and drive.
