95 odd shutdown problem
Coming home from Tucson up the grade on I10 heading to LA with 5ver in tow the engine just quit dead. Pulled over and waited a minute and it started up again. Did this 3 times. Once up the grade no problem and has not done it since. Suspect fuel delivery problem. Anybody have any advice on this. Don't have the ability to tap the fuel inj pump banjo. Can I get a good pressure reading at the top of the filter?

I would guess the fuel solenoid wires are loose?? next time its running look at the fuel solenoid lever position, then shut the truck off and check it again. should be in 2 different places. next time it poops out have look and see where its at. From my experiances with my 95 if it was fuel filter/lines/overflow valve/ or a starvation problem it would run poorly frequently and possible smoke abnormally. Just my .02 worth.

My first guesses would be shut down sol and relay. Could be getting warm under there while pulling the grade and droping out. Next time it happens, don't shut off the key switch, and check the position of the shut down sol leaver. If it is down, the power is dropping out. Change the relay first and check the wires and connector. Good luck

My 2500 had the same problem once, it was the overflow valve. When this happened it encouraged me to install a fuel pressure gauge so that I could have advanced warning of a problem.
You could get a good fp reading on top of the filter except the fittings are metric bolt size. You would need an adaptor to get it to the pipe thread size that gauges use.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like a fuel press. gauge is going to be a mod in the near future so at least I will know what is going on in there.
