95 Auto swap to nv5600....Complete
Thanks to those who replied while I was doing the swap. It is now complete and is totally awsome. It was not as hard as you would think. Just unbolt the auto, transfer case, and cross member and drive shafts. Parts came from a 2001 3500 4x4 that had caught on fire. I used the nv5600 from it, bought a new sachs clutch, and switched input shafts on my 241dld transfer case and then cut the hole in the floor board and bolted it in. Pedals came w/ the tranny. Just pop off 2 c-clips and swap the pedals. You use the bracket that is already there. Don't forget to add the 1/2" spacer between the starter and bell housing. I didn't know and it cost me a new starter. W/out the spacer your starter runs continuously. I used my case so the speedo and cruise would work. W/ all the parts it cost me $3,000.00. Well worth it. The 1st rebuild on the auto cost 2200.00. Went from 17.5 to 21.5 mpg. Any questions or help needed I would be glad to share info.

I don't know about the 4500. If you didn't do it, you would know by now. My starter burnt up where it was running all the time and groud off part of the starter housing. I did a google to find out about the spacer. I know you have to have it for the 5600.

Speedo Question
I just finished swapping a 5600 into my 97 (Tired of replacing 47RE's) and even though the speedo plug goes to the transfer case, it still doesn't work after completing the swap. Was there anything else you had to hook up to get your speedo working or did I possibly do something to the drive while I had the t-case apart for the input shaft replacement.

Its flywheel specific, not tranny specific. The 12" clutches do not require the spacer. The 13" clutches do. Two of my three dual discs also required the spacer. It depends on where the ring gear is placed on the flywheel.
