95 3/4 ton 5.9 gasser, I have questions.

On a '95 3/4 ton 5 speed 4WD gasser, would it use the same transfer case as a Diesel, meaning if it has a 241 HD, is it the same 241 HD as diesel?

It has a gas 5.9 with an NV4500 5 speed, with a D-60 front, which I THINK is unusual, because the gassers all used D-44s, I believe.

Going up to-morrow to try to acquire at least the manual trans flywheel and possibly the 5 speed and was wondering if I shouldn't grab other stuff?

The place won't sell the whole rig, otherwise it'd be here already.

Mark.

2500 and 3500's had a D60 front. Regardless of motor AFIK. I believe that the V10 and CTD's shared tranny and transfer case options. Check the NV4500 for the correct spline count. I don't know it they were offered in different configurations.
I thought that the V8 trucks got the lighter duty NP241 rather than the HD. I could be wrong. Maybe in the manuals only?

I was in a bit of a hurry when I found the thing, normally I look at the options tag under the hood, but this time I flaked.

It seems that I recall having read somewhere that if the truck was a manual trans it could have come with an HD 241 t-case, but was considered part of some heavy duty package.
Regardless, I was extremely surprised to see an NV4500 behind a 360 in a newer body, as I had thought they were only installed behind a gasser (non-v10) in '92-'93.

Guess you learn something new every day.

I do know Gasser NV4500s are a different spline count, in and out.

Looked it over and it was the light duty transfer case.
The trans is 23 spline on the output, which is a pretty common count.
Couldn't see my way to paying double what the transmission was for a core, so I passed on the deal, though I did snag the 5.9 5 speed PCM, which seems like a decent deal for the price.

THANKS for the input, guys!
