94 vs 96

Just looking for some quick impute I have a line on a 94 12v and a 96. Is there any difference in the easy of getting more power? I know the 96 is a higher hp rating and the 94 is a Cali truck.

p.s. I think i am search challenged I'm not finding any information.

Not much difference between the trucks...P-pumps would be one...The 94 and 95 have either 160 or 175 pumps depending on trans,..The 96 was either 180 or 215 pumps...again depending on trans..

What transmissions in the two trucks??

The 94-95 P pumps have a reputation of the pistons sticking after getting hot I have not read about a 96 doing it.

"Pistons sticking after getting hot".
How hot are we talking here, am I already in the line for trouble??
Now that I preheat my fuel to something close to engine temp.
that can`t be, that`s not enough, it has to be A LOT hotter than that, and it will never happen with an almost stock, would it???

Nah, heating fuel won't cause it, it appears as if it were a MFG. problem, and even then, only so many it affected, so if you are good now, you should be good in the future.

Yes...the 94-95 IP is a crap shoot...Some never had problems and few had to replace theirs...I had to replace mine in my truck...After 220K miles,it decided to shut down on the highway on a regular basis...The replacement fixed the problem..Barrels where ok,but heard something that the govenor like to get funky..in those model years..

Im not worried about turbos and injectors as i will be going with twins and aiming for 400+hp i was just wondering if there was a benefit of one engine vs the other. From the looks of it ill go with the 94 just to save me over a grand in cash.

Well, then I guess IŽll just cross my little fat fingers, and hope that my late `95 pump don`t fail, then i`ll only have to find that airleak that I got, somewhere.....
But that`ll have to wait, right now I canŽt get under my truck without swimming, global warming..... yeah right!!!

They're both old, and they are both the same engine, other than the rating of the pump. I wouldn't look at which year was better, but which one is a better value.

Don't worry about your 95 pump...If your the one which fails...It will not leave you on the side of the road...It will act a little weird if it is failing..
