94 3500 white smoke rough idle
My son has a 94 3500. Last week he was coming home from college and his belt broke. When I went to pick him up, the engine was running rough and putting out white smoke. He told me it got hot on him and when he pulled off the truck died. I put water in it and started it to take it up the road to a gas station to put on a new belt. It ran so bad I left there and trailered it home the next day.
When I got it home the wires on the crank sensor where broke from the belt shredding. I changed it and the engine still ran bad and smoked. I pulled the head and changed the head gasket thinking that was the cause of the smoke. When I got it back together it still has the smoke and it is not loosing any water. There is also no water in the oil.
When I pulled the heads the 2nd piston from the front was wet with diesel. When I ran it today I checked the injectors and this same cylinder's injector did not change the engine sound when I cracked the fuel line.
We thought it might have some bad fuel so I changed the fuel filter and added some fuel treatment to it. It now has a knock in the engine and a poping sound in the exhaust and white smoke out the exhaust.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I checked the valves when I changed the head gasket, did not notice anything wrong with them. When I had it running the other day I checked the injectors by breaking the fuel lines. The 2nd injector from the front did not make any change to the engine. I pulled that injector and had it tested. It tested good. While it was out I turned the engine by hand and that cylinder had some diesel on it. The guy at the injector shop told me to check the compression on that cylinder. Have not had time yet or found a compression tester for 500 pounds.

Dieseldemon,
I plan on pulling the valve covers tomorrow and checking the push rods. Also plan on rechecking to make sure I set all the valves right.
