5th gear nut replacement

5th gear nut replacement
Hey Guys,
Turns out I need to replace the nut on my 5th gear and have decided to replace the shaft with the fully splined shaft from 'Standard transmissions. I received the shaft and nut and also ordered a bearing and seal kit but there were no directions on how the pieces go together. There seems to be a split washer and another washer and then the nut with a locking screw but no information on how it goes together. I downloaded the TSB bulletin concerning the nut replacement but the parts are different. I am having a shop do this but they have never replaced the 5th gear nut either. They specialize in Dodges but do more lifts and other engine mods. Does anybody have info on how this goes together? I have searched several different ways but nothing has come up. It seems the way I am going is thought to be the best fix but I am a little lost. I am pulling the transmission on Monday so maybe I will become enlightened when I see it all out in the open.

You put 5 gear on the shaft. Then there is a groove right behind the 5 gear on the new shaft you got. The split washers go into the groove and then the one piece washer goes around the outside of the split washers to hold them together and in the groove. Then put your nut on and tighten down. I reused my factory nut and it is supposed to be torqued to 280 ft lbs. Don't have any experience with the newer nut.
I bought a new 3/4" torque wrench from harbor freight for about $80. None of my wrenches went that high.
