550 miles at 32k lbs.......
Not record breaking or anything, but the first long trip for my rebuild. Turns out I think I ve fallin on the perfect tow receipe for a cummins. It would probably pull 50 k lbs. I pulled grades in 5th just cause I felt like I wanted to give 6th gear a break. It would run 1080 degrees pulling hills in 5th at about 66-68 mph, holding it at 35-37 psi of boost. I could go more at anytime, I just didnt want to blow a boot off or something. I didnt really feel like stopping and it was going plenty fast enough. I tried a few hills in 6th.....no problem, esspecially if it was at 2300 rpm or so, but that meant going up hills at 80 mph....a def no no. 1900 to 2000 rpm in 6th it would build alittle egt all the way to 1180 or so....and almost act like it was actually working.
I passed everything going up hills. Not just every ford and chevy pulling an rv, but most things in general.
Now if I can just fix two oil leaks.....itll be perfect.
