well after my auto let loose after only 50k since the rebuild i went out and bought a nv4500 to put in my 96 i was going to do some research on what to get but my buddy told me they are all the same so i lessened to him and got burned i think.. that trans came out of a 99 3500 cab and chassis 4x4 the problem im haveing is that the 241 hdh doesn't have a threw hole for the trans speed sensor what have most people done to make this work also what can i do so i can keep my curse control also my truck is a 47re with the 241ld tc thanks for any help

 

Easiest would be to take the input gear out of the new DHD and put it in your old DLD and use that TC.

As for the NV, the only thing I can think of is perhaps the later one didn't have the TC lever mount? Even that may still be on there....... I have never heard of an issue with compatibility issues with swapping NV's so long as they were the correct input/output.

 

If you get a chance, post some pics and let us know how the swap turns out. I'm interested in switching over to 5 speed as well. What about the PCM? Do you keep the same or have to swap out as well. Also, I'm sure you know already but while you have the tranny out, go ahead and fix the reverse nut with a nylon nut so it doesn't back off.
One other question, do you use the same cross member and mount or does the NV require a different mount? Good Luck.
