5-spd assembly Q

5-spd assembly Q
For anyone that's done it, I'm putting the NV4500 back together after swapping out a cracked case from a used unit. I have the countershaft shimmed up and in place, and I can't for the life of me roll the mainshaft assembly in. I think 2nd gear on the main shaft is getting hung up on the gear in front of it, on the counter shaft, which I think is third.
I had the luxury of a mechanic friend printing out the alldata procedure for rolling out the mainshaft, which all I was doing wrong was I had the case laying on the wrong side.
So if anyone has a tech manual laying around or knows what I'm missing, I'd be very appreciated as my mechanic friend is away for a few days, and I'm itchy to try out the 5 spd!!! Thanks again!

I believe you can install the mainshaft without the rear bearing installed by putting a hose clamp around the shaft to hold the rearmost thrust washer in place. then when you get the shaft in you install the rear bearing and 5th gear. hope this works because I will be replacing my mainshaft this weekend.

Hmmm...I hope not. I don't feel like making another puller to yank that bearing. Getting the rear counter bearing off is a bear without the right tools. The main shaft came out just by rolling it with the case on the LEFT side, wouldn't come out one the right side. I'll try it with the counter shaft bearing retainter out to give a little more play.
