5 brake switches in 3 weeks

Well as the title states I have replaced the brake switch 5 times in 3 weeks. I don't know where to go from here. Now is the same like before. I'm driving down the road, hit a little bump and the lock-up disengages. It's so touchy now that I can just tap it and the brake light comes on. I bought the truck not too long ago and it got the problem about halfway through my drive back home. Is there a limiter which keeps the brake pedal from going to far backwards? Does anybody have any ideas? I'm dying here!

What brand were the replacement switches?

Might try a difference source of switches.

I have tried both BWD and Standard brand switches. It's not that the switches don't work. They all do at 1st. After a few days of hitting bumps, the brake pedal continues to bounce and it pushes the plunger all the way into the switch body. The service manual states that after installing the switch you should manually pull the brake pedal back all the way until it stops. At this point the switch should have adjusted and be in the right range. When I pull my brake pedal back it goes back so far that it causes the plunger to go all of the way in. I have tried adjusting the switch bracket backwards but there is no adjustment on the bracket. My only thought is that the rod is extending too far to the rear. Any ideas on this? I removed the rod from the brake pedal and tried screwing it in but that didn't work. I'm baffled!

Sounds like your brake pedal return spring has lost it's springiness or broken and is allowing the pedal to move around too much.
I've never replaced one on a Ram and can't even begin to tell you how to do it but on other vehicles I've done it has been easy to find and replace.

Is it internal on the booster? As far as I can tell from the service manual, our trucks don't have any in the open in plain view.

I can't tell you on a Ram but others I've replaced are at the top of the pedal where it hinges.

On my truck, I had an issue with the brake light staying on. Before I realized that you need to adjust the plunger, I slotted the holes a little in the body of the switch, to move it back farther. That may work for you, too, although you should determine exactly what isn't behaving to cause this.
