47rh tcc and overdrive

I have just replace my 47rh with a performance tramsmission and an ats converter, I wired in a lock up swith which is the dual pole type, when the swith is flipped on it has a wire dirrectly to the the ground terminal of the battery and the the wire from the switch is spliced about an inch from the connector that goes into the transmission, i also did the same thing with the overdrive because my trans temp sensor went out in the middle of bfe in the midde of the night and i wired in the switch to get home. Everything works fine but when i flip the tcc swtich on it will not lock the converter until i let the truck coast and then get back into it, the same is for the overdrive, as soon as it shifts into 3rd i can flip the overdrive switch and it still wont shift into overdrive until i get back out of the throttle or let it shift under normal conditions. My friend has a tcc swith and when you flip it ,it immedatly locks the converter, i was under the impression that as long as the lower valve body has pressure and either of the selinoids are energized shut that the trans should imediatly lock up or shift into overdrive. my converter is a new ats and the selonoid pack is new so i wouldnt think there wouldnt be anything wrong with either of those. i was wondering if the converter was suposed to lock up as soon as you flipped the switch (above second gear of course) or if hydralic conditons still had to be right for it to lock up causing a delay. ( once my converter does lock up it holds itself just fine and will bring the engine down until i flip the switch off) From my experience with sprayer solenoids i have learned that if any kind of poor connection occurs in the wires the solenoid wont engage under high pressures i was wondering if this might be my problem in the hot wire running into the transmission,,,, both ground wires are 14 gauge and all are well connected and sotterd. I was wondering if anyone else has problems with what seems to be slow or week solinoid engagment.
