47re problem
I have under 5k on this transmission the truck will not move in any gear i am hoping a new filter will correct the problem. if not, anyone got any ideas.this is a full built tranny there was no bad sound or vibration it just stopped working. It pushes fluid out the inspection plate area when it warms up could it be that the filter is stopped up and causing the fluid to back up through the vent.

When you had that transmission built, did you get a billet input shaft? or even an new OEM input shaft? If it leaks oil out of the inspection plate, that means the torque converter seal has gone out, oil pump seal is leaking or the oil pump housing has cracked. I think you input shaft may have broken on ya....

it has the billet input shaft,I am thinking i have a seal problem in the valve body or a stuck plunger.ill change the filter first i doubt it will fix it but its worth a try.anyways ill get it figured out and post what i find maybe itll help someone else.

I rebuilt my 47re myself with a few goodies (see sig). I have just over 9,000 miles on it so far. It works perfect, fluid is not dark, full of flakes or burnt and the pressure's as super as the day I put it back in. I had the pan off at somewhere around 3,000 miles and all was well....
I've been told many times exactly what you said - on the Dodge trannies, change the oil and filter 1500 miles after rebuild. I've rebuilt 6 of these things from the old torque flights, to the 46re to the 47re myself and have never done changed oil at that interval.... Haven't had any issues yet..... knock on wood.... lol

More likely the piping and two coolers from the original failure were not flushed as they are supposed to be. Save the filter for evidence on the warranty. I would take a picture. Debris from failure depends whether failure was disintigration of a hard/soft part (such as the lockup TQ clutch which is soft). Metal debris like gears or bearings is hard. Make sure the drainback(one way valve at water heat exchanger connection ) is removed or cleaned or you will have stuff catching on the ball/spring. Most shops remove it permanently.
